Accessible Housing Podcast Discussion
Paul Gauthier recently participated in a pod cast held by Stuart McNish, on Housing Matters, The Vancouver Real Estate show. The podcast addresses the issues of accessible housing for individuals with disabilities and for an aging population.
The conversation outlined the current housing challenges for individuals with disability and discusses planning initiatives, projects, solutions and successes. While the entire program is informative and definitely worth listening to, Paul’s portion begins at 19:56 in which he discusses the Right Fit Pilot Project and how the RFPP works with individuals seeking accessible housing and home providers looking for suitable tenants.

Pathways to Independence
We are pleased to announce that Paul Gauthier, IFRC Executive Director, has teamed with The BC Association For Individualized Technology & Supports (BCITS) to develop an exciting new peer discussion group; "Pathways to Independence".
Pathways to Independence is an opportunity for peers to meet regularly to discuss topics of concern and interest brought forward by group members. Currently there are four sessions scheduled and discussions may range from general interest topics to common concerns shared by the community. The group is also an opportunity to invite key speakers, such as BC Employment Standards, Employee Benefits, or Translink.
Our long term goal is to develop a sustainable discussion group in which we can not only provide support to peers in the community, but to identify peer leaders who will take the lead on challenges by making recommendations on various policy and programs that effect the community, or any special projects the group may wish to engage in.
JUNE MEETING AGENDA
BCITS Technology for Living (TIL) equipment: How new smart technology in your home can, when set up by trained biomedical technicians, increase your independence.
Break - A light snack of sandwiches, cookies, coffee/water will be available, with an opportunity for informal discussion.
Choice in Supports for Independent Living (CSIL Program): The second half of the meeting with continue with the topic of the first meeting, with open floor questions and solutions to problems.

ConnecTra Workshop 2018
